The Outsider Art Fair is the singular event to feature works by both celebrated and newlydiscovered self-taught artists from around the world. The 2015 edition of the Outsider ArtFair in New York will be held from January 29 – February 1 at Center 548 (548 West22nd Street, New York, NY 10011), and will showcase over 45 international galleries from27 cities representing 8 countries.
This year’s roster of veteran galleries will present legendary artists like Henry Darger, BillTraylor, Adolf Wölfli, James Castle and Martín Ramírez among others. The fair alsoboasts an exciting array of first-time exhibitors like New York's Arte del Pueblo, whichwill present Haitian works from the collection of Jonathan Demme, and Kent Fine Art(New York), which will showcase paintings by world-renowned artist Paul Laffoley. LowerEast Side dealer Louis B. James will feature the signature drawings of marching bandsby New Orleans artist Bruce Davenport Jr., while Brooklyn's Jackie Klempay will offerlimestone sculptures by Jerry the Marble Faun (who was the gardener at Grey Gardens).
Rebecca Hossack (London) will feature Australian Aboriginal works and two dealersfrom Paris will make their first appearance at OAF New York: Dominique PoladHardouinand Galerie L'Inlassable. Rounding out the list of new exhibitors are IndigoArts (Philadelphia), Gallery Kogure (Tokyo), Een Nieuwe Wind (Goes, TheNetherlands), J. Compton Gallery (Texas), The Good Luck Gallery and Ernie WolfeGallery (Los Angeles) and Brooklyn artist/curator Scott Ogden's project Shrine.
For the upcoming 23rd edition of the Fair, Wide Open Arts is also pleased to feature aspecial exhibition, If I Had Possession Over Judgment Day, curated by Jay Gorney andAnne Doran. The group exhibition will feature works by five artists whose art responds,in part, to their paranoia: Melvin Way (b. 1954), Emery Blagdon (1907–1986), AdolfWölfli (1864–1930), Mark Lombardi (1951–2000), and the Philadelphia Wireman (20thcentury).
