BIOGRAPHY

Dan Coopey

1973, Stroud | Reino Unido

Dan Coopey is English and passionate about Brazil. He graduated in Fine Arts from Goldsmiths (London) and usually works with sculptures, exploring more specifically the technique of traditional basketry.

Through his works, he presents the relationship between the artist, the craft and time: each project is unique, each object is a statement, each interlacing of material is an experience. When Dan creates his body opens up to the act of braiding - which could be a mistake for a basket with utilitarian use - the artist's research turns into drawings and textures worthy of attention.

With this, new lessons are being learned by the artist and by the public that follow his production.

Dan has been on view since 2005 between the UK, Brazil and Belgium.
