INTRODUCTION

For the 19th edition of SP-Arte, Galeria Estação (booth G10) presents a set of works that reflects the gallery's aim of promoting a transgenerational artistic discourse between emerging contemporary artists and pioneering self-taught artists. The focus is to feature a curatorship that recognizes the legacy of these artists, who mostly worked during the 20th century, and how they contributed to the construction of the history of Brazilian art, especially through this new, freer and more recognized generation. For this purpose, Galeria Estação offers, in this edition of the fair, an unprecedented opportunity for the public to experience expansive local and global visions of Brazilian art, presenting historical works by Chico da Silva (1910/1922, Alto Tejo-AC - 1985, Fortaleza -CE), Conceição dos Bugres (1914, Povinho de Santiago-RS - 1984, Campo Grande-MS), Itamar Julião (1959-2004, Prados-MG), Lorenzato (1900 - 1995, Belo Horizonte-MG), Madalena Santos Reinbolt (1919, Vitória da Conquista-BA - 1977, Petropolis-RJ), Miriam Inez da Silva (1938, Trindade-GO - 1996, Rio de Janeiro-RJ), Nino (1920-2002, Juazeiro do Norte-CE), in addition to André Ricardo (1985, São Paulo-SP), Deni Lantz (1993, São Paulo) and Santídio Pereira (1996, Curral Comprido-PI).

Since 2005, SP–Arte is a global arts event that brings together renowned art and design galleries, representing, in ever edition, over 2,000 artists in the historical Oscar Niemeyer Bienal Pavilion. During the event, local museums and cultural institutions host a strong parallel program including panel discussions, exhibition openings, and special visits that offer an overview of São Paulo’s contemporary art circuit. SP–Arte plays an essential role in Latin America’s art market and strongly contributes with Brazil’s creative economy.
